What is the Professional Year Program?

The Professional Year Program (PYP) is an Australian Government initiative designed to assist international student graduates from Australian universities, TAFEs and nominated training organisations gain important skills and connections to kick start their career in Australia. Participants who successfully complete the PYP may be awarded 10 points under the General Skilled Migration points test.

The PYP is about enabling international students to become work-ready and achieve that all important advantage when applying for jobs. The program includes a combination of targeted professional development workshops and training to strengthen participants’ professional workplace skills and understanding of Australian workplace culture while building their CV and professional portfolio through an 18-week professional internship.

To ensure that the specific skills and experience that are in demand from Australian employers are developed program management and administration responsibilities have been assigned by the Australian Government to leading Australian industry bodies. ICTE-UQ is pleased to deliver the following Professional Year Programs:

Skilled Migration Internship Program Accounting (SMIPA)
ICTE-UQ is an approved SMIPA provider.  Approval is granted by CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and the National Institute of Accountants.
