ICTE-UQ offers high quality full-time English courses designed to provide students with the English language and communication skills they will need to:
  • succeed in future university or other studies
  • open up professional opportunities at home or abroad
  • expand their travel and working holiday options
Class sizes range from 12 to 18 with an average class size of 15 students. Under the guidance of their language teachers, students frequently work in pairs and small groups to maximise opportunities for speaking, listening and sharing ideas.
 
Students benefit from a range of teaching styles and are taught by a minimum of two different language teachers during the week.

Enrolment and class placement
ICTE-UQ full-time English courses are delivered in 5 and 10 week teaching sessions. 25 hours of face-to-face teaching is delivered each week from Monday-Friday.
 
Students can choose to enrol in a short 5 or 10 week course or enrol in a longer period of study up to 45 weeks.

Advanced English Communication Skills (AECS) ›
  • Designed to challenge advanced students and improve speaking and listening skills through group project work.
  • Offered at 1 course level.
English for Academic Purposes (EAP) ›
  • Designed to provide students with the skills required to succeed in academic study and in the IELTS test.
  • Offered at 2 course levels.
English for Specific Purposes: Bridging English Program (ESP:BEP) ›
  • An English language pathway for entry into UQ undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
  • Offered at 1 course level.
English for Specific Purposes: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESP:TESOL) ›
  • Designed for students considering becoming a teacher of English as a Second Language (ESL) or who are already ESL teachers in their own country.
English for Specific Purposes: Tourism & Hospitality (ESP:T&H) ›
  • Designed for students interested in developing English language skills for a working holiday, internship or career in the tourism or hospitality industries.
