GROUP PROGRAMS

OVERVIEW

ICTE-UQ has over 21 years of experience in developing and conducting Study Tour Programs for groups of overseas students and professionals. ICTE-UQ has the flexibility to custom-design group programs to meet the requirements of the client institution or organisation. Programs are typically 2-6 weeks in length and the minimum group size is 12-16 or multiples thereof.

PROGRAMS

Most group programs consist of one of the options listed below:

  • Option A: 15 hours General or Special Purpose English tuition plus 2 half-day activities per week.
  • Option B: 15 hours General or Special Purpose English tuition plus 3 half-day activities per week.
  • Option C: 15 hours General or Special Purpose English tuition plus 4 half-day activities per week.
  • Option D: 20 hours General or Special Purpose English tuition plus 2 half-day activities per week.

ICTE-UQ is a flexible provider and can custom-design programs to meet the requirements of the client institution or organisation.

Study Tour Program classes will be held in modern, air-conditioned classrooms on the University of Queensland St Lucia campus. ICTE-UQ facilities include a well-resourced TESOL Resource Centre, Arts Learning Centre and Computer Assisted Learning Centre.

In addition, participants will be issued with an ICTE-UQ student card which will provide them with access to:

  • Private study use of the Language Laboratory and related facilities (video / audio)
  • Use of print and audio-visual materials inside campus libraries
  • Borrowing of print and audio resource holdings from the ICTE-UQ Resource Centre
  • Use of university and campus facilities

END OF PROGRAM

A Farewell Function and Certificate Ceremony is organised for our groups at the end of the program. End of program examinations can be administered at the end of the program on specific request from the organising institution/agency

ACCOMMODATION

Most student focussed study tour groups choose homestay accommodation, staying with a local family and experiencing the Australian lifestyle while practicing their English language skills. Normally, one student is placed per family although students can stay two per family with separate bedrooms if requested. Participants in homestay accommodation are provided with breakfast and dinner daily and three meals on weekends. Participants can purchase lunch on campus during the week for approximately $8-10 per day. Homestay cost: $200 per week per participant.

Alternatively, arrangements can be made for study tour participants to stay in hotels, apartments or hostels close to campus or in the residential accommodation on-campus during certain times of the year. Costs for these options are generally considerably higher than homestay.

TRANSPORTATION

Program fees include airport pickup and drop-off for the group. An ICTE-UQ staff member meets the group at the airport upon arrival and escorts them to campus to meet the homestay families. Study tour participants travel to and from campus each day on public transport, normally by bus or train. Participants staying with homestay families are placed close together where possible to allow them to travel together in small groups. Participants should allow AUD$35 per week for daily transportation.

FEES

Fees are available on request from ICTE-UQ. Fees include all transport and entry fees for tourist/cultural activities. One full-day activity can replace two half-day activities.
