ICTE-UQ State-of-the-Art Premises: a first-class study experience
ICTE-UQ programs and classes are delivered in a new a six-floor multi-million dollar state-of-the-art building on the UQ St Lucia campus.
The purpose-built Sir Llew Edwards Building (SLEB) premises, which became fully operational on the 21 July 2008, offers ICTE-UQ students and participants across all program areas a multimedia and digital language learning environment, state-of-the-art teaching and learning spaces and first-class services including:
- Modern, spacious seminar and class-rooms with PC operated digital teaching and learning facilities
- custom designed collaborative learning classrooms configured for computer based group work activities
- wireless internet
- 30 ‘stand-up’ terminals for quick email access
- ICTE-UQ Learning Centre providing:
- borrowing access to extensive TESOL resource materials including books, magazines, journals, newspapers, CDs and DVDs
- three interconnected multi-media laboratories with 18 computers in each - two of which are also equipped with the Sanko Lab 300 Language Teaching Solution System to stimulate new methods of teacher-driven, PC-based language learning interactions
- 200 seat auditorium with dual visualisers and data projectors, DVD players and surround sound system
- designated teacher training break-out rooms
- student break-out areas including a large open ‘V’ shaped courtyard in the centre of the building
- theatre style multi-function room with access to roof-top balcony and commercial re-heat facilities
A Green Theme
In addition to providing a dynamic, modern and interactive learning environment the premises also features a range of smart technologies based on ecologically sustainable principles to minimise effects to the environment in terms of water and energy consumption.
